Blog Entries Continue After Short Absence

It has been about a month since I last wrote a blog entry and I have missed the written reflections that are an important part of my growth as a scholar.

The initial break came when I found myself in the hospital after suffering from a TIA which is also know as a mini stroke. Although there was no permanent damage, I did lose a week of work at the end of the semester.

Once I returned to work, I had to concentrate on getting my grading done as well as writing up my reactions to student presentations. Then, I had to get ready to teach my Spring semester classes while moving to Cincinnati a week earlier than planned so that I could help my partner take care of our sick dog.

Our dog is doing much better. But I still have some work to do both in terms of my Spring classes as well as finishing reactions to presentations. But it is equally important for me to continue reflecting on my work as a teacher. Without reflective action, I am not only able to improve my work as a teacher, but it is too easily for me to become overwhelmed and, as a result, I am unable to do my best.
