Perhaps the most famous attack on naval ships in American history is the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December1941. Four battleships were sunk, three damaged greatly, and plenty other war machines damaged or loss. A total of 2,402 people were killed and 1,247 people were injured.

On 8 June 1967, the USS Liberty was brutally attacked by the naval forces on Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that the Liberty was a U.S. shi, and lied about it. This outburst claimed the lives of 34 men. In 1967, the USS Forrestal was destroyed by a fire and series of chain-reaction explosions. This outbreak claimed the lives of 134 sailors and injured 161 during the Vietnam War.

On 23 January 1968, the USS Pueblo was captured by North Korea. The Americans tried to stall and destroyed classified information before the 83 men were captured and tried for spying on the Koreans. On 23 December 1968, the U.S and North Korean negotiators reached a settlement, and the 83 captured Americans were freed.
