On 19 November 2013, the United Nations declared this day as World Toilet Day. While not a public holiday, this global observance is important. While the name of this day may sound like it is celebrating the toilet itself, it is meant to bring awareness to people who do not have access to toilets and are living in poor sanitation conditions.
