On 15 November 1920, the League of Nations was formed as an International Group located in Geneva, Switzerland. The League was created after World War I to set a forum of rules and regulations for resolving International conflicts and disagreements within a set of humane rules.

The idea for the League of Nations was brought up by United States President Woodrow Wilson as part of his fourteen points for world peace. Ironically, the United States never became a member of the League of Nations.

During the 1920s and 1930s, the league showed that it could be successful. But it failed to prevent the aggression of the Axis powers in the 1940s.
