On 26 July 1994 at exactly 2:43am I was born. This day was a very special day not only for my birth being given but also because during July the finals of the Federation of Association Football (FIFA) tournament were played. My dad lives for soccer just like I do now. My dad would always tell my mom and family that I was going to be a soccer player, and he made sure that happened.

The two final teams that played in the world cup were Brazil and Italy. Both of these teams were led by a superstar. The Brazil star player’s name was Romario de Souza Faria. Italy’s star player was named Roberto Baggio. My dad had said that “whoever wins this game is who we are naming our son after.” If Brazil, won my name would be Romario and if Italy won, my name would be Roberto. This game was tied and went to penalty shoot outs. Romario scored his and Roberto missed. So Brazil was crowned world champions.

When I was born, I was named Romario. Now all of this falls into place because I live for the game of soccer and my favorite team is Brazil. It just has a crazy story behind it.

Soccer today is a huge sport. Brazil was a member of the Federation of Association Football since 1923. Brazil is five time national champions; the most any soccer team has ever won. Brazil also consists of the best players to represent their country such as, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Romario, Hulk, Oscor, Neymar. Believe me I can keep on going. I personally love the way I was born and the story behind it makes it a million times better. That’s my memorable moment on 26 July 1994.
